Joan & david's special tour for 2024 takes you to the lovely, lesser know Itialian - Lake Iseo and we explore by boat and the fabulous Train of Flavours where we enjoy the scenery and culinay delights as we chug along the shores
Our special tour for 2024 is taking us to the lesser known Italian Lake – Iseo, lesser known but in no way less spectacular. This beautiful lake sits between the two larger lakes of Como and Garda and is surrounded by a mountainous landscape, this with the Islands dotted in the Lake make a stunning setting. We’ve a special Itinerary for you too, our day exploring the Lake takes in the scenery by Train …. The train of Flavours also includes a lunch board with local specialities, and also by Boat as we head to Monte Isola one of the Lakes Islands. Another day is spent in Verona with an afternoon wine tasting of David’s favourite wine – Valpolocella, there’s an excursion to Sirmione at Lake Garda and a final trip visiting the Renaissance Town of Mantua & Borghetto, said to be one of the prettiest villages in Italy.

Day One
An early home pickup this morning and we travel to Dover for the lunchtime ferry to Calais and then continue on to our first over night stay in Belgium

Our journey continues as we head for our 2nd overnight stay in the Strasbourg area
B, EMDay Three
Into Italy today and we arrive at Lake Iseo late afternoon / early evening.
B, EMDay Four
We start our culinary train ride in Iseo and make our way to Pisogne, on board we enjoy an aperitif and lunch of local specialities. In the afternoon we enjoy a boat ride from Sulzano to Monte Isola, a 600 m tall mount rising from the lake, and visit the pretty village of Peschiera Meraglio before returning by boat to Iseo. A fabulous excursion and a special treat
B, L, EMDay Five
This morning we visit the fair City of Verona, the romantic city of Romeo and Juliet - We see the magnificent Roman Amphitheatre, Juliet’s balcony, and many other famous sights. This afternoon another highlight as we visit a winery in the Valpolicella area and taste the local produce - now you may or may not know that Valpolicella is David's favourite red wine
B, EMDay Six
Today we head to Italy’s largest lake - Lake Garda - where olive, lemon and palm trees flourish, we visit the peninsula of Sirmione with its lovely medieval castle and amazing ice cream, we'll also have an afternoon stop at another of the Lakes lovely towns/villages.
B, EMDay Seven
Today we set off to Mantua, a Renaissance jewel rich in culture and art treasures. We see the San Giorgio Castle, the Ducal Palace and the four main squares, which are themselves masterpieces of great architecture. In the afternoon we discover the picturesque hamlet of Borghetto, built in 1400 around a series of water mills used to grind corn and grow rice along the river Mincio
B, EMDay Eight
Leaving Italy today we travel into Germany for our penultimate overnight stay
B, EMDay Nine
From Germany into Holland as we hed to Rotterdam for the overnight sailing back to Hull with twin bedded cabins included.
Evening meal is not included this evening, you can pre book this at a supplement
Day Ten
Homeward bound, from Hull back to the north west arriving back around lunchtime
