Included Excursions

Excursion 1         We head to the thriving town of Carrick on Shannon, there’s free time to explore along with an included River Shannon sail on the Moon River. During your hour long sail enjoy the lovely scenery and a delicious scone and a cuppa. The town offers historic, colourful streets and Costello’s Chapel which is central to some light hearted dispute as to whether this tiny chapel is actually the smallest or second smallest chapel in the world.

Excursion 2         We spend this morning in Athlone, a pretty town on the border of County Roscommon and County Westmeath, perched on the banks of the River Shannon. We have the chance to explore the impressive medieval castle or perhaps wander the twisting lanes through the heart of the town. This afternoon we continue on to Birr, admire the beautiful architecture of Birr Castle Demesne, wander through the gorgeous gardens and stop by the adjoining science centre to view the historic Great Telescope.
